Dr. Emily R. Warren named senior advisor to U.S. EPA

Austin (August 24, 2023)—Dr. Emily R. Warren, the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation’s director, land conservation and water programs, has been named senior advisor to the Office of Water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The one-year assignment, beginning August 28, is through an intergovernmental personnel act agreement.

According to EPA’s Office of Water, Dr. Warren will provide guidance and build new partnerships between the philanthropic, private sector, and technical assistance communities as EPA deploys $55 billion in water infrastructure investments through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Dr. Warren will work directly with Radhika Fox, EPA’s assistant administrator for the Office of Water.

“We are very happy that Emily will join EPA’s team and contribute her leadership and expertise to strategic initiatives with the goal of ensuring clean and safe water for all Americans. Emily will play a key role in creating partnerships that will help EPA maximize the benefit of historic investments in water infrastructure,” said Fox.

“The foundation is delighted by Emily’s assignment to EPA’s Office of Water,” said Katherine Lorenz, president of the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation.“ Her deep knowledge will inform EPA decisionmakers as she acquires a greater perspective on water policy and federal-state relations, ultimately benefiting her work at the foundation.”
