MARITA MIRZATUNY
Program Officer, Sustainability Education, and MIL Manager
Marita Mirzatuny is the sustainability education program officer and Mitchell Institute Lab manager for the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, responsible for managing grant strategies and collaborating with CGMF’s grantees, partners, and alliances.
Prior to joining the foundation, Marita worked for the Texas Solar Power Association and served as a project manager at Environmental Defense Fund, where she focused on clean energy and distributed energy resources. While at EDF, Marita helped evaluate the environmental metrics of Pecan Street Inc.'s demonstration project in Austin and was a prolific writer and speaker on issues related to energy and the environment. She also founded a retail start-up focused on sustainable goods and had a pop-up shop for a number of years.
Marita has a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from University of California, Santa Cruz and an MBA from Texas State University. She has been a contributing author to Forbes, the Austin American-Statesman and two books: Smart Grids: Infrastructure, Technology, & Solutions and Broadband Networks, Smart Grids & Climate Change, as well as an article published in the Journal of Energy Economics, "The Environmental Impacts of Green Technologies in Texas."
