Grantmaking
The Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation is a mission-driven grantmaking foundation that seeks innovative, sustainable solutions for human and environmental problems.
CGMF's grantmaking is highly strategic and specialized. Funded projects must fit specifically within our integrated program strategies. We rarely fund unsolicited grant applications.
For a list of previous grants made through CGMF's sustainability-related programs, select a year from our archived annual reports below. Grants from 2013-2016 are grouped in alphabetical order, while grants from 2017 onward are organized alphabetically within specific programs.

Before submitting a Funding Request Summary (Letter of Inquiry), carefully review our grantmaking programs and guidelines, related FAQs, and additional information posted within this website. If your project fits within these specifications, you may complete the Funding Request Summary online submission. You will be notified if a grant application proposal is warranted.
The foundation is able to fund only a small fraction of requests, and a rejection is not a reflection on the value of your project or organization. We appreciate your efforts and dedication to creating sustainable solutions for Texas and our world.
