Study: EPA Clean Power Plan Will Conserve Water, Reduce Air Pollution in Texas

Join Paul Faeth, director of Energy, Water and Climate of the Center for Naval Analyses’ Institute for Public Research for a news conference via the Internet at 10:00 am Central on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, when he releases the findings of a new report, “The Impacts of EPA’s Clean Power Plan on Electricity Generation and Water Use in Texas.”

The report uses an Electricity-Water-Climate power sector model developed by the Center for Naval Analyses (CAN) researchers to determine how Texas will fare under new EPA clean power regulations.

Funded by the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, the report suggests that the new regulations would cut water consumption in Texas as much as 21 percent, while reducing conventional air pollutants 27 percent by 2029. Moreover, CNA researchers found that Texas could easily meet these targets at little or no cost.

Faeth will be available to answer questions about the study during the call.
